CHRISTIAN BARBUTO is a DJ/Producer who, after two decades of living in North America, now resides in Sydney. He is the head for Mavic Music, an underground techno label that is approaching 100 releases with over 400 singles (including ‘Aetheria’ by WISER, who recently played with Blackout). He has also charted with original music on Codex, OFF, Tronic, Octopus, Unity, Set About, Nervous and Transmit.

BARBUTO was the head resident DJ and a promoter of the original Kingdom Nightclub in Austin, Texas (arguably the number 1 techno club in North America). He has also performed at Coda Toronto, Space and Tree House Miami, The End Up and Monarch San Francisco, La Santanera Mexico, Avalon Los Angeles, White Rabbit Berlin, Melkweg Amsterdam, and several venues around Australia.

Some of the artists BARBUTO has performed b2b with or supported for include Carl Cox, Nicole Moudaber, ARTBAT, Reinier Zonneveld, Kevin Saunderson, Julian Jeweil, Umek, Adam Beyer, Christian Smith, Oliver Huntmann, and Pleasurekraft.

Deep Waves is our second series of events (alongside Décadance – which has another installment planned later this year). It was created to showcase several interpretations of Techno in a chill atmosphere where everyone is invited to come as they are to satisfy their techno needs while enjoying some party enhancements.

Following our first edition in November 2022 with Melbourne-based headliner HARRY J DEE, we are incredibly excited to bring you BARBUTO for this second round. From melodic to dark, from minimal to hard – Deep Waves is an invitation into the heart of Techno.
